Joaquín Borrell

• La esclava de azul (Barcelona: Círculo de Lectores, 1989).
  Diomedes of Athens is a Roman private eye (called an exquiriente from the Latin verb exquiro) and recent emigré. Having inherited his uncle's business and slave, the funny and charming Baiasca, his female "slave in blue", he investigates four cases, including the mysterious death of his uncle, the exquiriente Alcimenes of Thebes, and an attempted murder of Caesar. Borrell's novels are written in a parodic style, reminiscent of the classic television program Remington Steele. Julius Caesar, Cleopatra and her sister Arsinoe appear. • La lágrima de Atenea (Barcelona: Círculo de Lectores, 1993).
  Diomedes of Athens travels to the exotic kingdom of Colquis to investigate the killing of Prince Polemo. No historical characters are mentioned, but there are many references to mythology and Classical culture. Also set in the Julius Caesar era. English title would be "Athena´s Tear".
